LuAnn Newton, age 68, of St. Germain died at Rennes Health Care in Rhinelander on January 20, 2016 after a brief illness.

LuAnn was born in Oconto Falls on Oct. 25, 1947 to Joe and Sally Vanden Bush. She graduated from Green Bay West High School.

LuAnn loved volunteering for Angel On My Shoulder, a cancer support organization in St. Germain where she prepared gift bags to deliver to cancer patients at hospitals throughout the state. She also spent countless hours on the Polar Bear Plunge over the past 16 years to raise money to send kids with family members affected by cancer to Camp Angel.

She also volunteered time for events for Big Brothers Big Sisters and the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce and numerous other charities.

LuAnn was predeceased by her father Harley Joseph Vanden Bush and two sisters, Bonnie Close and Connie Vanden Bush. She is survived by her mother, Sally Vanden Bush of St. Germain, two sons, Kelly Newton of St. Germain and Billy Newton of North Carolina; grandchildren, Courtney and Joe, Lisa Marie and Sarah; great-grandchildren Jessica and Brooklyn; five sisters Judy, Sharon, Lois, Terry, JoNelle and one brother, Jay.

A private visitation was held. A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Germain Community Center, on Jan. 31 from noon-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Angel On My Shoulder in honor of LuAnn.  Carlson Funeral Home of Rhinelander (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is assisting with arrangements.
