Obituary: Harry E. Hardy
Harry E. Hardy, age 74 of Rhinelander, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015. Harry was born to Ruby Brynildson Hardy and Earl Hardy June 1, 1941 in Black River Falls. He grew up in Black River Falls and participated in high school basketball and football. He started his higher education at UW- Madison. Harry went on to Michigan Tech University where he graduated from with his Civil Engineering degree.
Harry worked for the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer for 33 years. He worked in Waukesha, Wisconsin Rapids and eventually Rhinelander, Wisconsin where he retired in 2001.
Harry was married to Joanne Hussey March 1, 1969. They lived in Southern Wisconsin. They had two beautiful girls Shannon and Kerry. They moved to Wisconsin Rapids and lived there 13 years. Harry, Joanne and Kerry moved north to Rhinelander in 1992. Harry was in his element with hunting, fishing and snowmobiling right outside his door.
Harry enjoyed actively participating and volunteering with both the Rhinelander Hodag Sports Club and Hodag Sno-Trails snowmobile club. Harry was always involved in charitable clubs and functions throughout his life. He was a thoughtful and giving man.
He leaves behind his two daughters Shannon Hardy of Elroy and Kerry Hardy of Rhinelander and his wonderful dog Dickens. Harry has one sister and brother in law in Florida, Mary and Tom Buehler who were not only family but lifelong friends. Harry has many Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces and Cousins’ that were dear to Harry’s heart as well.
Harry was preceded in death by Joanne Hardy his late wife; Ruby and Earl Hardy, his parents and Florence and James Hussey his in-laws.
The Family would like to thank all the wonderful healthcare providers and facilities that have provided care for Harry in these last few years. A special thanks to Ministry Hospice and Country Terrace for the supportive environment and comfort care when it really mattered most.
A memorial service for Harry will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) in Rhinelander. Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the funeral home. Condolences for the family can be directed at www.carlsonfh.com.
