Genevieve “Jeanne” Pennington, age 94 of Rhinelander, died Friday, December 25, 2015, at Milestone Senior Living. She was born on August 8, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois to Walter and Josephine Brady.

Jeanne resided in Illinois where she married her husband, Fred and was employed at Jewell Foods in Chicago. The couple moved to Rhinelander in 1961 where Jeanne was employed as a seamstress at Mary’s Stitch ‘n Nitch. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.

Jeanne loved time spent in the “woods” and any activity associated with the outdoors including fishing and berry picking. Always an independent and adventurous spirit, Jeanne continued to cut her own firewood, shovel her roof of winter snow, and row her own boat on fishing outings well into her 80s.

Jeanne is survived by nieces, Joy (Steve), Janice (Joe), and Sandra; nephews, Mike (Kim), Russell, Gary, Robert (Debbie), Tom (Karla), and Artie, and special friends and caregivers, Kim Shelly and Judy and Bill Asuma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; sister, Elizabeth Simonetti; and two brothers, William and Arthur Brady.

At Jeanne’s request, there will be no formal funeral services. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is assisting with arrangements. The family would like to thank the staff at Milestone Senior Living for the wonderful care and friendship they provided Jeanne.
