Obituary: Doris Salawater
Doris Salawater, age 90 of Rhinelander, died Friday, April 1, 2016, at her home and in the company of her family. She was the second of seven daughters born to to Minnie and Charles Stoeckel on April 8, 1925, in Clark’s Summit, Penn., where she attended school.
She worked as a mechanical drafts person at Wright Aeronautical during World War II. She married Leo Salawater on November 24, 1945 at the Presbyterian Church in Paterson, NJ. Together they raised four children whom Doris is survived by, Sharyn Wetzel of Weston, Timothy of Madison, Nancy (Ronald) Cihlar of Mosinee and Scott of Rothschild.
She is further survived by five grandchildren; two sisters, Carol and Ellen, both of Florida; and special friend, Earl Druckrey. She was preceded in death by her husband in May of 1998; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Barttelt; and four sisters, Lois, Elseth, Jeane and Marilyn. Her love of her family and special friend, and her love of knitting throughout her life filled the many hours after the death of her husband.
Services will be held at a later date at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Rhinelander with Rev. Richard Miller officiating. Interment of her cremains and those of her husband will take place in the Eland cemetery shortly thereafter. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is assisting the family.
