RHINELANDER – The two undefeated teams in the Great Northern Conference, Rhinelander and Shawano, faced off in Rhinelander at the Heck Family Community Pool Thursday evening.

This is the last home meet for the Hodags so both parents and seniors were honored. The meet began with a tribute by Brian Gaber to Robert Heck who passed away last Friday. Heck was instrumental in giving the pool a facelift when the school district had a major renovation several years ago.

The meet itself showed why the Hodags are on top as they began by setting a pool record in the 200 yard medley relay – one that only lasted a year. Three of the four members of the relay were on the previous record-setting group, Carter Gaber, Jack Antonuk and Charlie Heck. Daniel Gillingham is the new name replacing Gavin Ostermann on the board.

The Hodags won all 11 events and placed second in all but the 100 yard breaststroke. In individual events, the Hodags were one-two-three in all events except the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard breaststroke.

Rhinelander has two conference meets remaining before the conference meet.
