Obituary: Patricia Steckbauer
Patricia J. Steckbauer, age 78 of Rhinelander, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at Friendly Village Nursing Home. Patricia was born Aug. 1, 1941, to the late Fredrick Hugh and Dimple Delight (Nichols) Theilman on her grandmother’s kitchen table in Elmhurst. She grew up in the Elmhurst, Tigerton, Embarrass, Shawano and Antigo areas. On July 26, 1958, she married Richard “Dick” Steckbauer, in Aniwa.
Patricia and Richard had seven children in nine years while living in the Harshaw area. Patricia enjoyed volunteering, writing and quilting. In 1987, she secured her GED of which she was very proud. In 2014, Richard died and her greatest love story ended. While her life was filled with many challenges, she successfully raised strong-willed and hard-working children.
Patricia is survived by her seven children, SueEllen (Glenn) Hopp, of Rhinelander, Ann (Tony) Pichardo, of Albuquerque, N.M., Laura (Joel) Keplin, of Ripon, Mark (Felicia) Steckbauer, of Olive Branch, Miss., Christine (Kirk) Russell, of Elkhorn, Phillip (Marie) Steckbauer, of Cummings, Ga., and Keith (Jodi) Steckbauer, of New London; one sister, Donna Duranceau of Tomahawk; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Dimple; her in-laws, Ambrose and Agnes Steckbauer, who she loved as a mother; her brother, Irwin “Dick” Theilman; her sister, Shirley Haas, and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Steckbauer.
No immediate services are planned. A graveside ceremony will be held in July at the Union Grove Cemetery in Harshaw. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. View Patricia’s obituary and leave online condolences at generationsfuneral.com.
