Obituary: Sharon R. Olson
Sharon R. Olson, 71 of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 24, 1941, in Rice Lake to Mortimer and Thelma (Daggett) Lewis. Sharon graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1960. She married Leon Olson on Oct. 13, 1962, in Rice Lake. They resided in Wisconsin Rapids and then moved to Rhinelander in the early 1970s where they raised their family of four children. She was employed as an administrative assistant with her husband in his business and then later for the Community Mental Offices, here in Rhinelander. Sharon was a faithful and active member of the Trinity Ev. Lutheran church. The promise of salvation directed Sharon each and every day of her life. She was also a volunteer with the Hodag Water Ski Show for many years, Boy Scouts, and the Cub Scouts. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting and reading. Sharon is survived by her three daughters, Darcy (Gary) Drossart of Lake Tomahawk, Heidi (Ron) Ness of Seymour, and Jody (Brett) McKinney of Rhinelander; her son, Rodney (Amanda) Olson of Rhinelander; her 11 grandchildren, Travis, Jesse, Grant, Carter, Ben, Kylie, Morgan, Amanda, Hunter, Taylor and Cameron; and a brother, Scott (Sharon) Lewis of Glidden. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leon on Nov. 3, 2008, two sisters, and a brother. Funeral services for Sharon will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church with the Revs. Timothy and Kari Vadis officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at the Carlson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. Interment will be in the Newbold Memorial Cemetery. A memorial will be established in Sharon’s name and contributions may directed in care of her family.
