Obituary: Veronica Ward
Veronica Ward, age 95 of Pelican Lake, is eternally resting in her lake home in the heavens. She was called home by the Lord on March 15, 2020.
She passed on with a smile as she was reunited with her loving husband of 67 years, John, her son, John Patrick, her brothers, Henry and Stanley, and her sisters, Helen and Theresa.
Her new lake home in the sky is also the peaceful resting place of four grandchildren who preceded her in death, Marissa Ward, Corinna Villari, Tony Villari and Kip Villari.
We were blessed to learn many valuable things from “Grandma Ward” including lessons of hard work, self-discipline, determination and the most important lesson of them all – always let Grandma win at 500 Rummy!
Veronica loved her family and friends and loved and appreciated her home on the shore of Pelican Lake. She enjoyed viewing nature, sunsets over Musky Bay, a quality book and good fish fry fresh out of the lake.
Surviving Veronica are seven children, 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her surviving children are Charles (Dahlia) Ward of Silver Lake, Mary Ellen (Ed) Landslittle of Mukwonago, Patricia (Don) Oremus of Green Bay, Sue (Craig) VanderBunt of Pearson, Terry (Ed) Ziegler of New Berlin, Barb Ausprung (Jim) of New Berlin, Judy (Kip) Villari of Elm Grove and daughter-in-law, Suzie Ward of Mole Lake.
Veronica lived an amazing life. Her journey took her from a small farm in Ringle, to Milwaukee as a young adult raising a family to the Northwoods, making memories as a grandma in Pelican Lake. She was a devoted Catholic and active in her community. Her smile could light up a room. She will be dearly missed. Family is planning a celebration of Veronica’s life. Details will be given at a later date.
