The Hodag girls basketball team faced a couple of tough match ups Friday night and Saturday night at home. Friday night the girls hosted Medford, where the home team demonstrated balanced scoring and pressure defense to send the Raiders home with 64-46 loss. Medford won the free throw battle going to the line 23 times while making 17. The Hodags shot four and made two.

Cynthia Beavers lead all scorers with 18 points, nine in each half. Kenedy Van Zile and Rebecca Lawrence each scored 17.

The second game of the weekend did not have the same result. The Stevens Point Panthers came to Rhinelander in a  non-conference game. The Hodags had leads in the game but three starters, Ella Schiek, Kenedy Van Zile and Cynthia Beavers, fouled out. When they took to the bench the Hodags were unable to score again and lost 59-67.

On a positive note, senior Kenedy Van Zile scored her 1,500th career point. She scored 30 in the game. The next record to be broken is for school career scoring, currently held by Mike Flory with 1,566. Van Zile is 50 points away from taking the record.
