Season ends for Hodag girls

Senior Brooke Mork and junior Kenedy Van Zile embrace after coming off the floor in the final minutes of the game.

The Hodag girls basketball team took to the road Saturday afternoon to play the No.2 seed, New London Bulldogs, on their home court in the regional final. The girls were hoping to continue the run into the post season but the Bulldogs had other plans for the Hodags.

A combination of a stifling defense by New London and the Hodags’ inability to make their shots ended the girls season. The Bulldogs had a 21-12 halftime lead and never looked back defeating the Hodags 53-22. The Hodags could only make one three-point shot on the night made by Kenedy VanZile and missed numerous free throw attempts and had several of their shots blocked, thanks to New London’s height advantage. This was the last game for seniors Payton Van Zile and Brooke Mork. PHOTOS BY BOB MAINHARDT.
