Obituary: Martha A. Mangerson

Martha A. “Marty” Mangerson, age 87 of Rhinelander, died Friday, June 29, 2018 after a long illness. She was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Syracuse, N.Y. to Stanley and Mildred (Hillier) Shane.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Barbara Sheldon of Rhinelander; sons, Bryan Sheldon of Los Angeles, Calif., and Brent (Danna) Sheldon of Quakertown, Pa.; grandchildren, four grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Patricia Marbut of Grove, Okla.; sister-in-law, Marion Shane of Syracuse, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Rupert Sheldon of Lancaster, Pa., and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her husbands, King Sheldon and Charles Mangerson; daughter, Sandra Ison; son, Keith Sheldon; daughter-in-law, Julie Sheldon; sister, Frances Bruyn-Turner; brothers, Stanley and Robert Shane; brothers-in-law, Arwed Bruyn, Ted Turner, Wallace Hyde, and Danny Marbut; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Shane.

A memorial service for Martha will be held Monday, July 9 at 1:30 p.m., with a visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., all at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Rev. Topher Mehlhaff will officiate. A memorial is being established in Martha’s name and may be directed to the family.  (Carlson Funeral Home)
