Marjorie Jean Rathert, age 88, of Rhinelander, died June 1, 2017, at the Friendly Village Nursing Home, in Rhinelander. She was born Dec. 27, 1928 in Crandon to James and Lillian (Steele) Shields.

Marjorie attended schools in Crandon and then married Guy Peters. He preceded her in death in 1971. Later in life she then married Dr. Burton Rathert. His practice was in Crandon and Marjorie worked as a nurse’s assistant with clerical duties. They moved to Rhinelander together and then Dr. Rathert passed away some years later. Marjorie stayed in Rhinelander where she has lived since.

Marjorie was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rhinelander. She enjoyed reading and most of all, the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Bradley) Garris of Columbus and Tammy (Randy) McKenzie of Sugar Camp; her two sons, Gary,(Donna), Peters and Richard (Teri) Peters, both of Rhinelander; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Mae (Jerry) Ryan of Las Vegas, Nev.; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marion, Ella and Valerie and her brothers, George, William (Bill) and Allen (AJ).

A memorial service will be planned at a later date for Marjorie. ( Carlson Funeral Home)
