STAR JOURNAL REPORT

Oneida County authorities have released the name of the teen who died in a fatal car accident Saturday night in the Town of Stella. According to the Sheriff’s office, 17-year-old Michael J. Wanty, of Rhinelander was found by deputies deceased on the shoulder of Hwy. C near Tenderfoot Road. Wanty was a student at Three Lakes High School.

A preliminary investigation appears to show the victim was ejected from his vehicle after it caught the northbound shoulder, was over corrected and veered into the opposite lane of traffic, striking several trees and causing the vehicle to overturn.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing their investigation into the events surrounding the fatality accident.
