Oneida County teen killed in car crash Saturday night
STAR JOURNAL REPORT
An investigation continues into the death of a 17-year-old Oneida County youth, whom the sheriff’s office says was killed Saturday night as the result of a car crash in the town of Stella.
The Oneida County dispatch center received a call from a family member approximately 11:40 last night, reporting that their teen had not returned home from a drive into town, and requested deputies help to locate the 17-year-old.
According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, the deputies located the vehicle, which had rolled in the ditch area of County Hwy C and Tenderfoot Road.
The teen was located ejected from the vehicle and deceased in the shoulder area. Preliminary investigation appears to show the vehicle caught the northbound shoulder, was over corrected and veered into the opposite lane of traffic, striking several trees and causing the vehicle to overturn. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of the family.
Pine Lake Fire Department, Stella Fire Department, Stella First Responders and Oneida County Emergency Medical Services responded to this scene. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing their investigation into the events surrounding the fatal accident.
