OBITUARY: Genevieve Brown

Genevieve “Dugi” Brown, age 90 of Rhinelander, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016.  She was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Eagle River to George and Caroline (Punches) Alsteen.

Dugi married Gaylord Brown Jan. 23, 1947, in Flint, Mich.  They resided in Rhinelander where together, they raised their family of five children.  Dugi was a devoted wife and a loving mother.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Robin) Brown-Islo of Tomahawk; three sons, Jim (Marlene) Brown of Madison, Scott (Chris) Brown of Deer Lodge, Mont. and Bradley (Maureen) Brown of Rhinelander; daughter-in-law, Roberta Brown of Rhinelander; eight grandchildren, Alisa, Angel, Nicole, Erik, Samantha, Dennis, Makayla and Chloe; a great-granddaughter, McKaul; three sisters, Janet Dickison, Melva Zarm, and Judie White, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gaylord in 1980; a son, Dennis in 2010; two sisters; and three brothers.

The funeral service for Dugi will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church with Mother Meredyth Albright officiating.  Please meet at the church.  Interment will take place in Northland Memorial Park.  Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is assisting with arrangements and condolences for the family may be directed at www.carlsonfh.com.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Country Terrace and Ministry Hospice as well as Dr. Michael Henry and his nurse, Jackie for the loving care and support they provided Genevieve during her journey with Parkinson’s disease.
