STAR JOURNAL REPORT

An armed stand off Tuesday in Lincoln County ended with the shooting death of 50-year old Scot A. Minard of Eagle River, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Lincoln County assisted in a high-speed chase after an Antigo Police Officer was shot at during a routine traffic stop near the Antigo Hotel. The Minard’s vehicle was stopped by a tire-deflation device in the town of Pine River. He remained armed during an hour-long standoff, eventually firing his weapon. Four law enforcement officers returned fire, striking and killing Minard.

According to a Lincoln County press release, the four officers, two Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies, one Langlade County Deputy and one Antigo Police Officer have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the Wisconsin Department of Justice-led investigation. Minard’s body has been taken to Madison to be autopsied. The Division of Criminal Investigation will determine the facts of the incident and turn over report and evidence to the Lincoln County District Attorney when the investigation concludes.
