New trustees join the Nicolet College Board, two others reappointed
SUBMITTED REPORT
The Nicolet College Board welcomed two new trustees and reappointed two others during the board’s recent annual organizational meeting.
New to the board are Kim Baltus, Woodruff and David Solin, Deerbrook. Trustees reappointed to the board include Sharon Nielsen, Eagle River and Ron Zimmerman, Tomahawk.
Baltus, Nielsen and Zimmerman were appointed to three-year terms. Solin will fill the one-year vacancy as the elected official on the board. The vacancy occurred when former Lincoln County Board Chairman Bob Lussow did not pursue re-election and was no longer eligible for the elected official position.
Baltus is currently the director for Sacred Heart-Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation in Rhinelander and Tomahawk. Her professional work experience has primarily been in healthcare, human services, and chambers of commerce. Kim is a Rotarian, has served as president of the Oneida County Tourism Council and was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Marshfield Public Library.
Solin has served on the Langlade County Board since 2006 and is currently the board chairman. He is a retired logger and land manager of approximately 1,600 acres of family-owned land. He is currently farming, and raising cattle and swine on the 100-year-old family farm. He also runs maple syrup and Christmas tree operations. He and his wife are the owner/operators of Lab Tech Services, LLC, a licensed testing lab for drinking water and wastewater.
Nielsen is a private practice attorney concentrating on guardian appointments for minors and elderly. She’s served on the Headwaters Council for Performing Arts Board, Olsen Memorial Library Foundation Board, Northland Pines School Board, Camp AweSum Board of Directors, and as the Rotary Youth Exchange Outbound Coordinator, District 6220. Nielsen has served on the Nicolet College Board since 2014.
Zimmerman started his career as a high school math teacher and is now retired from Packaging Corporation of America in Tomahawk where he was the Human Resources Manager. He has served on the Nicolet College Board of Trustees since 2009, serving twice as the chair, and once as the vice-chair. Zimmerman also serves as the vice-chair for the North-Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board. In 2011, he was awarded the State of Wisconsin’s Business Friends of Education Award.
The trustees also elected officers at the organizational meeting. New officers are Bob Martini, Rhinelander, chair; Bob Egan, Eagle River, vice chair; Brian Diel, Rhinelander, secretary and Jennifer Vogler, Wabeno, treasurer.
Also serving on the nine-member board is Linda Skallerud, Crandon.
