Marc F. Bobek, age 89 of Harshaw, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander.  He was born on April 29, 1926, in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Mary (Komperda) Bobek.

Marc proudly served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.  He married Gwen Greet on May 4, 1963, in Chicago, IL.  Marc was a draftsman and designer at Fermi Lab which was a federal research facility dealing with high energy physics.  He and his family were seasonal visitors to the Minocqua area for many years and moved to Harshaw permanently several years ago.  Marc was proud to participate in a Veterans Honor Flight from central Wisconsin to visit our nation’s capitol with fellow veterans.

Marc is survived by his wife, Gwen of Harshaw; two sons, Paul Bobek of West Des Moines, IA and Michael (Paula) Bobek of Madison, WI; two grandsons, Andrew and Steven Bobek; a niece, Annette (Larry) Frank; great nephew, Michael; and sister-in-law, Beverly Greet.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Stanley, Henry, and Richard.

A funeral mass for Marc will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff with Father Aaron Devett officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of mass on Tuesday at the church.  Interment will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Harshaw.  Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) of Rhinelander is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials in Marc’s name be made in support of the Honor Flight program for veterans of central Wisconsin and contributions can be directed in care of his family.
