Obituary: Bruce M. Everson

Bruce M. Everson, age 78, of Rhinelander, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Bruce was born to Edward and Ethel Everson on May 23, 1937 on the family farm south of Rhinelander. He grew up in Rhinelander and graduated high school in 1955. After joining the Army he was stationed in Japan until 1959. He married Beverly Vandervest on July 15, 1961. They resided in Rhinelander for 27 years. During that time frame Bruce was an auto mechanic and owned Everson Mobil Service. They spent the next 3 years in North Carolina, then Ohio where he was manager at a boy’s ranch and they were houseparents for troubled boys.

In 1991, Bruce accepted a maintenance director position at Sky Lodge Christian Camp in Montello, WI in order to be closer to family. Due to health reasons, they returned to Rhinelander in May 2012. Bruce served in Gideon Ministries for the final 25 years of his life. He enjoyed bluegrass music, playing his banjo and entertaining in nursing homes. Other hobbies included bee keeping, fishing, hunting, gardening, carpentry and Bible reading. Bruce will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Beverly, son Dean (Karmin), son Jeff (Connie Kadubek), daughter Robin (Chris) Clairmore; grandchildren Nicole McGeshick, Amy Guthrie, Nathan, Alex and Mark Everson, and Keziah Combs; great-grandchildren Ezra, Abella, Eliza, Gabriel and AnnaLiese Guthrie, Rilyn and Raylee Everson, and Violet Combs. He is also survived by 6 sisters and 5 brothers. Further survived by other family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Ethel, 3 brothers, Art, Edwin and Frank Everson.

The family would like to thank all of the health care providers and facilities that have provided Bruce with care over the past four years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Four Square Gospel Church, Rhinelander, on Saturday, January 16th with visitation from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for Gideon International.
