The Hodag boys cross country team has claimed the first conference championship since 1987 by having five runners in the top 14.

Senior Cal Laggis was the Hodags’ top finisher in third place followed by Jack DeNamur in ninth, Ty Welk in 10th, Cody Ruetz 13th, and Jaden Beske in 14th. First team all Great Northern Conference honors went to Laggis and the rest of those scoring for the Hodags earned second team all conference. To cap off the honors head coach MJ Laggis was voted boys coach of the year.

On the girls side two of the teams did not have enough runners to field a team score and the Hodags placed fifth out of the five schools remaining.

Northland Pines’ Nora Gremban finished first just over two minutes ahead of second place Jennifer Kahn of Medford. The top finisher for the Hodags was freshman Sophia Miljevich in 18th place.

Saturday the team travels to Oconto Falls for the sectional meet.
