An Honor Flight benefit held in Rhinelander over the summer garnered enough money to send 72 Northwoods veterans to visit war memorials in Washington D.C. Benefit organizer Dawn Panzer, middle, presented a check for $36,000 to Never Forgotten Honor Flight founder Jim Campbell, pictured on the right.

Panzer also donated $1,000 to the Northwoods Honor Guard, represented by veteran Bob Smith, left. Panzer thanked the community for helping both organizations.

“I can’t begin to put it in words,” Panzer said. “I tear up when I think about it and we’re giving the chance of a lifetime to these vets who richly deserve it.”

Prior to this donation Panzer has helped send 92 Northwoods veterans to the nation’s capitol on the Honor Flight.
