Congratulations to Rhinelander resident and Korean War veteran, Tom Rudolph. Pelican Elementary School students and staff raised enough money by buying 50-cent bags of popcorn and recieving generous donations to sponsor Rudolph’s Never Forgotten Honor Flight in April, 2017.

Lead fundraiser, Special Education teacher’s assistant Nancy Funk, said she hoped they would raise a few hundred dollars to donate to the Honor Flight organization. When all was said and done, they had successfully collected enough money for three tickets to Washington D.C.

Hal Berndt, a veteran of WWII and Rhinelander resident, was aboard an Honor Flight several years ago. He told the students and guests what he recalls most from the memorable day. Rudolph said he most looks forward to seeing the WWII memorial, which was under construction the last time he was in the nation’s capitol.
