STAR JOURNAL REPORT
The Rhinelander Area Food Pantry (RAFP) is hosting another Farmer to Family food giveaway. It is again being provided through FCAP and Feeding America. Any individual, regardless of income, can come to the food pantry (627 Coon Street) after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23,  for a box of fresh produce and other foods.
Enter behind the pantry from Carr Street exiting on to Coon St. The line will start at the pantry driveway on Carr Street to Coon Street then turn right on Newell Street and line up on the side of the cemetery. Pantry volunteers are asking that you please do not block any driveways.

If your trunk has room and is open, the box will be placed in it.  If the box of food has to be placed INSIDE the vehicle, you will need to load it yourself. This is a no-contact pickup.
Through the Cornavirus Food Assistance Program the USDA is purchasing and distributing agricultural products to those in need. The USDA  Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is partnering with national, regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly  impacted by the closure of restaurants, hotels and other food service businesses, to purchase up to $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy and meat products from American producers.
Distributors package the products into family-sized boxes to be given away at food banks and pantries across the country.
According to the USDA, 43.5 million food boxes are expected to be given away from May 15 through Aug. 31. AMS may continue the program until all available remaining funds, up to $3 billion, have been used.
