Obituary: Matthew Lund
Matthew M. Lund, age 57 of Carthage, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019, due to kidney failure, at his home under the care of Aseracare Hospice of Nashville, Tenn.
He was born June 14, 1962, in Milwaukee to Jean L. and Joyce E. (Baer) Lund. He attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1981. Following high school, Matt enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in West Germany, completing his service at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Following discharge, Matt settled in Tennessee.
He retired as a water pump mechanic at the Nyrstar mine in Gordonsville, Tenn. A skilled mechanic, Matt could fix any machine, car or truck – whether big or small. He was always willing to help a neighbor and was constantly tinkering, building or trading anything mechanical.
Matt was a non-denominational Christian. He often said “It’s all good, it is what it is, and I’ll see you on the other side.”
He is survived by his brothers, John (Marge) Lund of Rhinelander, Steve Lund (Shelia Duggan) of Lyles, Tenn.; his sisters, Kathleen Trudeau of Mannington, W. Va., Debbie Joswick of Wausau and Tammy Erickson of Yreka, Calif.; nieces and nephews; and good friends, Larry Mullins and Jamie Weiss. He is further survived by his faithful four-legged canine companions, Buttercup, Sassy and Junior.
In addition to his parents, Matt was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel and nephew, Jeffrey Erickson.
Per Matt’s wishes, no services will be held. The Sanderson Funeral Home of Carthage Tenn. are assisting the family.
