Obituary: Glenn Johnson

Glenn K. Johnson, age 95, of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Glenn was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Racine to Chris and Elsie (Sorenson) Johnson.
Immediately following high school, Glenn entered the Army and served as a member of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment. Glenn was a POW who was proud of his service but also felt it was his duty to his country. Glenn was a member of the Wisconsin Central Chapter American X POWs.
Glenn is survived by his sister, Betty (Orv); his brother, Dale (Sue) Johnson; his daughter-in-law, Jean Johnson; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends. In addition to his wife he was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth; and his brother, Jack.
A memorial service for Glenn will be held on Friday May 3, at 11:30 a.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home, with Rev. Timothy Vadis officiating. There will be a Masonic service on Friday, May 3, at 10 a.m., also at the Carlson Funeral Home. Visitation will immediately follow the Masonic service and continue up until the time of the memorial service. Interment will take place in the Southeast Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.(Carlson Funeral Home)
