One person killed in head-on collision in Vilas County

A head-on collision in Vilas County Wednesday morning has resulted in one fatality. According to the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a 911 call at 10:19 a.m. near the intersection of US HWY 51 and Bakken Road in the township of Boulder Junction.
Upon arrival it was discovered that two full-size pick-up trucks had collided head on. The jaws of life were needed to extract occupants of the trucks; all were transported to Howard Young Medical Center. One person died in the accident and other occupants of both vehicles received non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No further details have been released.
