Special Olympians to bowl in state contest this weekend

The School District of Rhinelander Special Olympics bowling team participated in the regional meet at Dale’s Weston Lanes Oct. 27. The athletes competed well and demonstrated great sportsmanship.

First, second and third place winners in each division qualified for the state competition which will be held Sunday, Nov. 11 in Weston.

Twelve of 15 Hodag bowlers advanced to the state competition, including state qualifiers Emma Knapp, Hannah Umland, Gabe White and Spencer Smith who all placed third; Miguel Gonzalez, Maggie Lehman, Drake Winters and Allison Brunette placed second in their respective divisions; and first-place divisional winners were Paige Applins, Jenna May Enders, Whitley Devine and Stephen Herrmann. Additionally, Marshall Barlowski placed sixth, and Nevaeh Johnson and Maria Dornfeld finished in fourth place.
