OBITUARY: Chester C. Balsewicz, Jr.
Chester C. Balsewicz, Jr., age 77 of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born May 15, 1939, in Rhinelander to Chester and Margaret (Gustafson) Balsewicz.
Chester entered the U.S. Navy in 1957. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Rhinelander where he married Sandra Hall on Sept. 23, 1961. Together, they raised their family of three daughters. Chester was employed for much of his career with the Rhinelander Paper Company where he was a turbine operator. He then was a member of the road crew for the Town of Newbold until the time of his passing.
Among his hobbies, Chester enjoyed fishing and radio controlled aircraft. He will be remembered as a man who was always busy with a project and who truly enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Chester is survived by his wife, Sandra Balsewicz of Rhinelander; two daughters, Theresa (Gary) Martinez of Vallejo, Calif. and Wendy (Trent) Woodall of Rhinelander; nine grandchildren, Robert, Nathan, Chet, Justin, Zack, Sarah, Ryan, Jessica, and Kimberly; eleven great-grandchildrenand a sister, Delores of Chicago, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deloras “Dee” Pec on Dec. 9, 2003; a sister, Phyllisand a brother, Edward.
The funeral service for Chester will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Military honors and interment will follow in Northland Memorial Park.
