OBITUARY: Shirley Wendt

Shirley Wendt, age 81 of Rhinelander, died July 7, 2016 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She was born August 20, 1934 in Rhinelander to Charles and Elsie (May) Slack. Shirley was a hard worker her entire life. She enjoyed over 60 years of marriage with her beloved husband Hillis. They enjoyed traveling together, spending time with all of their family and simply watching the birds and wildlife at home. She also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband Hillis of Rhinelander; her daughters, Chrystal Wendt of Janesville, Becky Butterfield of Marinette and Brenda (Greg) Golden of Rhinelander; her sons Edward Wendt of Rhinelander, Kevin Wendt of Afton, Michael Wendt and Lawrence (Tracy )Wendt, both of Rhinelander; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; her Ralph (Lee) Slack and Charles Slack; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 12 siblings and her mother and father-in-law.
All family and friends are invited to a gathering to honor and remember Shirley on Saturday, July 16 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Newbold Town Hall. You may leave your private condolences for the Wendt family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the Wendt family.
