Rhinelander swimmers win big at home

The Rhinelander Swim club won its Freezin Season Invite at home this past Saturday for the second year in a row including both the boys and girls Crescendo Relay teams taking  first place for their efforts for the second time.

The boys relay, consisting of Michael Schiek, 8, Samson Shinners, 8, Charlie Heck, 10, Jacob Schoppe, 12, David King, 13, and Joseph Heck, 13, took trophies home with a winning time of 5:06.26

Girls Relay, made up of Vivian Lamers, 7, Ellyse Younker, 8, Abi Winnicki, 9, Lisa Kennedy, 12, Makenna Winnicki, 13, Taylor Macak, 15, also brought home trophies with their winning time of 5:06.03.

Times keeps dropping as the season starts to wind down.  Eli Lundt, 10, had the biggest time drop in the 100IM-33.26 seconds,  for a new personal best of 1:59.76 followed by Vivian Lamers, 7, -30.02 seconds in her 100IM new time of 2:05.66, Sierra Woodford, 11, dropped -22.17 in the 50 fly  bringing her personal best time to 44.57.

Joseph Heck, 13, and Samson Shinners, 8, had 3 individual first place finishes along with their first place finishes on relay teams.   Heck, 100 IM 1:10.10, 50 Fly, 31.89, 50 Breast 35.17.  Shinners, 25 Free 19.90, 25 Fly 25.18, 25 Back, 25.35

Four Swimmers brought home two individual firsts for the meet:  Charlie Heck, 10, 50 Free 31.17, 50 Fly 43.15, Grace Heck, 15, 200 IM 2:35.53, 100 Free 1:00.03, Jacob Schoppe, 12, 50 Free 28.84, 50 Back 37.20, 1:09.28. Abi Winnicki,9,  50 Fly 36.55, 50 Back, 37.89, Ellyse Younker, 8, 25 Fly 22.99,  25 Back, 23.19,

Four Swimmers had at least one first place finish:  James Heck, 100 Free 1:14.83, Lisa Kennedy, 12, 50 Back 35.54, Michael Schiek, 8, 25 Breast 23.84, Sam Schoppe, 9, 50 Back.

Swimmers taking Second place or Third in events:

Jack Antonuk,  Ella Heck,  Grace Heck, James Heck, Thaddeus Heck, Lisa Kennedy, David King, Zachariah King,  Vivian Lamers,  Houston Mathwig,  Madelyn Mathwig, Marissa McGuire,  Madison Michel,  Maddie Quinn,  Ian Rumney, Ella Schiek,  Michael Schiek, Jacob Schoppe, Sam Schoppe, Olin Slette,  Kadyn Taylor, Abi Winnicki, Makenna Winnicki and Ellyse Younker.

Unlike regular conference meets at the invitational boys and girls have the opportunity to swim on the same relay team.   The results of those are:

Mixed 8&under 100 Medley Relay

First place- Ellyse Younker, Michael Schiek, Samson Shinners, Ian Rumney 1:39.09

Third place Brock Arrowood, Kaydn Taylor, Eva Heck, Emma Houg

Mixed 10&under 200 Medley

First place-Charlie Heck, Madelyn Mathwig, Abi Winnicki, James Heck 2:27.74

Second place- Sam Schoppe, Nandinerdene Battulga, Annalyse Schoppe, Zachariah King

Mixed 12&under 200 Medley

First place- Lisa Kennedy, Ella Schiek, Jack Antonuk, Jacob Schoppe 2:13.86

Third place- Ava Lamers, Noelle St. Pierre, Houston Mathwig, Maria Heck

Mixed Senior 400 Medley

Second place Grace Heck, Thaddeus Heck, Taylar Macak, Joseph Heck

Mixed 8&under 100 Free

First place Samson Shinners, Michael Schiek, Ellyse Younker, Ian Rumney

Mixed 10&under 200 Free

First place – Madelyn Mathwig, James Heck, Charlie Heck, Abi Winnicki 2:11.63

Second place- Nandinerdene Battulga, Annalyse Schoppe, Zachariah King, Sam Schoppe

Third place- Mackenzie Scholz, Meghan Scholz, Morgan Louis, Payton Seidl

Mixed 12&under 200 Free

First place Lisa Kennedy, Jack Antonuk, Ella Schiek, Jacob Schoppe 2:03.75

Third place Jaida Salaam, Houston Mathwig, Maria Heck, Noelle St. Pierre

Mixed 14&under 200 Free

First place- Maddie Quinn, Makenna Winnicki, Joseph Heck, Marissa McGuire 1:54.42

The club has just two regular conference meets of the season remaining; they will be in Lakeland  Saturday, January 16.
