RSC swimmers compete in Midwest regional
For the Star Journal
Rhinelander Swim Club athletes participated in the Midwest Regional Swim Meet earlier this month. In all, 19 RSC swimmers between the ages of 6-18 competed at the large meet, held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Seventy teams from eight states throughout the Midwest were there.
“It was a fun meet and a great opportunity for swimmers to compete at an amazing complex,” said Coach Jenny Heck. “As coaches we are extremely impressed with the swimmers who extended their season by six weeks in order to compete in this qualifying meet. It was also fantastic to have high school swimmers there and swimming fast. They are great role models for the younger swimmers, encouraging and supportive of them and the sport.”
Athletes who placed in the top four were awarded medals with 5-16th place finishes awarded ribbons. Times are recorded for those placements.
