Obituary: Dora E. Carlson

Dora E. Carlson, 88, of Rhinelander, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Milestone Senior Living. She was born Feb. 19, 1925, in Rhame, North Dakota to Jens and Mina (Stensby) Jensen. Dora married Douglas Royce Carlson in Superior Nov. 14, 1944, and they moved to Rhinelander in 1946. Dora is survived by four daughters, Sheila Carlson of Wichita, Kansas, Tess “Terry” (Niklaus) Imobersteg of Prairie du Sac, Christine (Craig) Kuehn of Waunakee, and Lori (James) Counter of Green Bay; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Lindsay, Joshua, Corinne, Allison, Mitchell, Sonja, Max, Ashlyn, and Alex; two sisters-in-law, Vera Jensen of Tacoma, Wash., and Gene Jensen of Appleton; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Douglas in 1986; a daughter, Julie; two sons, Dennis and Allen; two sisters, Lillie and Olga; and six brothers, Lars, Ted, Melvin, Norman, Albert, and Clarence. A funeral service for Dora will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church with Revs. Kari and Timothy Vadis officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Northland Memorial Park. Carlson Funeral Home is assisting Dora’s family with arrangements and condolences may be forwarded in care of www.carlsonfh.com. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, contributions may be made to a memorial for the benefit of the Trinity Ev. Lutheran quilters group.
