Bryan Rose was named editor of the Star Journal and began his duties July 1. Rose has an extensive background in print and digital media. He has won numerous awards from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association for page design and photography and has been twice named to the Wisconsin School Board Association’s Media Honor Roll.

“We are delighted to have Bryan join us. His extensive print and digital journalism experience will be a terrific addition to our talented editorial team,” said Pete Daniels, publisher/general manager.

Rose began his career as a part-time reporter for the Wisconsin Free Press in Mayville. From there, he was named the sports editor and regional reporter for the Ripon Commonwealth Press. During his time at the Ripon newspaper, he was promoted to educational editor and was named editor of the Green Laker magazine, a seasonal publication covering the Green Lake area.

After leaving the Ripon Commonwealth Press, Rose served as senior copy editor for the Miles Kimball Company in Oshkosh, overseeing the publication of several catalog titles.

During that time, Rose continued to write, freelancing for several online publications including Demand Studios, Studio101 and Sports Media Exchange. He also served as the lead NCAA writer for Football.com, worked for NCAA.com and covered the Wisconsin Badgers for Examiner.com.

Rose moved with his family to the Northwoods two years ago.

“I’m very pleased that Bryan has joined us and I know he will do a fantastic job,” Timi Eckes, former Star Journal editor, said. “In the meantime, I look forward to being able to fully focus on editing our magazines.”

She will continue editing Northwoods Commerce, Living on the Lake, Northwoods Boomers and Beyond, and Wisconsin Journeys, as well as several new magazine editions for the company.
