Rhinelander church welcomes new pastor
STAR JOURNAL REPORT
The Rhinelander First United Methodist Church recently welcomed a new pastor. Pastor Keith Wolf is a second-career pastor, having retired four years ago from a career as a licensed clinical social worker.
“The move from social work to pastoral ministry is pretty seamless in a sense,” said Wolf. “I have always been very active in the church, but always felt drawn to pastoral ministry. God was calling me to do more and to put the skills He had given me in my previous work to use in a leadership role in the church. As a pastor, I am called to be a servant leader within the church.”
Originally from Richfield, Wolf moved to Antigo in 1985 and continues to live there with his wife, Kathleen. The couple has three grown children. Wolf holds a bachelor’s degree in human relations from Marian University and a master’S of social work degree from UW-Milwaukee.
Wolf serves as a licensed pastor. As an alternative to attending seminary full-time and being ordained, a licensed pastor attends a five-year course of study while serving as a pastor in a local church. Once the course of study is completed, he is considered a permanent associate member of the clergy in the United Methodist denomination. Wolf previously served the United Methodist Church in Clintonville.
The church, located at 724 Arbutus St., has a 9 a.m. Sunday worship service. A community open house and potluck supper will be held at the church Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. For more information, call Wolf at 715-362-2091.
