Obituary: Patricia Persike
Patricia Louise Persike, age 81 of Rhinelander, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017 at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was born July 26, 1936 in Mount Vernon, Ill., to Marshall and Grace Jamerson.
Pat married Richard Persike June 21, 1957. Together they adopted two sons, Bryan and Michael. In 1968, Pat and Dick moved the family back to Rhinelander, Dick’s hometown, where they have lived since.
The couple enjoyed traveling together through the years, including spending several winters in Florida.
Pat was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Her sense of humor and caring nature will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Her caring extended beyond her family. She always thought she could find a way to help; it didn’t matter the cause of what sort of help was needed. Pat just knew that she could help anyone through whatever was bothering them.
She worked many years at Friendly Village as a nurse’s assistant. She later found her niche as an AODA counselor at Koinonia, which was a terrific outlet for her desire to help. She enjoyed long-lasting friendships with many of the clients that she helped to gain sobriety and sponsored through AA.
Her spiritual faith became the guiding force of her life. She enjoyed many friends from the Vineyard church and more recently, the Pine Grove church community. Though her mobility was limited, she found a helpful and supportive cast of friends at Pine Grove who supported her and made sure she was able to attend church regularly.
Pat is survived by her husband, Richard; her sons, Bryan (Eileen), and Michael; her grandchildren, Matthew, Brevin, Lindsay, Brieanna, and Zachary; nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Beverly and Donald, and granddaughter, Brynn.
A visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Carlson Funeral Home.
