Rhinelander one of three finalists for Forestry Division location
STAR JOURNAL REPORT
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking for public comment regarding the possible relocation of the Forestry Division headquarters. DNR officials have reviewed information submitted by more than 40 communities in northern Wisconsin, all asking to be selected.
As a result of that review, Rhinelander, Hayward and Wausau have been identified as the department’s preferred locations should a decision be made to move the forestry headquarters from its current location within the DNR headquarters in Madison.
Development of the proposal for the potential relocation of the forestry division headquarters was required under WI Act 55. The draft proposal is now available for public comment and can be found at the DNR website,dnr.wi.gov, by searching “http://dnr.wi.gov/files/pdf/news/FRHQdraftProposal071416_f.pdf.”
Comments on the proposed plan are due Aug. 5 and may be submitted to[email protected]. The department will review comments and submit a final plan for review by the Natural Resources Board.
