Viewpoint: Saddened to see K.C. Menagerie go
Editor:
I was so heartbroken to see K.C. Menagerie is going out of business. Another unique and wonderful store gone. My grandsons will no longer be able to see the well made toys and games that were in that store. No junky plastic imitations or latest movie theme gimmicks. They had real toys, which spurred the imagination and got the kids to use their minds for more than the violence of the latest video game.
I am sick of seeing the downtown dying and good wholesome stores leaving.
Sorry, Walmart, but you are not my idea of a pleasant day of shopping. I long for the days when my parents and I would park and walk down the streets of Rhinelander and stop in every store to look at merchandise and buy something special.
Now there is nowhere for a child to sit on the floor and play with a wooden train or puppet theater. No telescopes or microscopes that actually work. No doll or small kitchen for the future homemaker. Another loss for the community and most definitely for Downtown Rhinelander. I thank the owners of the fabulous store for the time they spent here and wish them the best. You will be missed by this grandmother.
