Viewpoint: Writer applauds efforts to secure federal funds
Editor:
Supervisors from 30 Wisconsin counties now support the goal of accepting federal Medicaid funds to guarantee health coverage access. Robert Craig, Exe. Dir. of “Citizens Action of Wisconsin” stated that “County leaders from around Wisconsin are stepping up to deal pragmatically with one of the worst state budget decisions in the modern history of Wisconsin. County officials are leading the way because the Gov. and the Legislature are trying to slam the door on tens of thousands of average Wisconsinites who just want the freedom and opportunity to obtain affordable healthcare for themselves and their families.”
The leaders of the following Counties have signed the letter to the Department of Health Services: Ashland, Buffalo,Douglas, Fond du lac, Lafayette, Portage, Rock, Vilas, Wood, Vernon, Sheboygan, Kenosha, Iowa, Eau Claire, Brown, Marathon, Milwaukee, Dane, Winnebago, Lincoln, Oneida, Manitowoc, Dunn, Richland, Jefferson, Racine, Outagamie,LaCrosse , Salk, and Colombia.
This may not directly affect you but it does really have a negative affect on many people looking for ways to afford health care for their families. We are very encouraged by the efforts of Citizens Action of Wisconsin and the people who worked hard to make this happen.
People power is still the most productive tool we have that out strips and out classes big money and the Republican agenda. All of us need to be in this political debate to insure American Citizens are treated with equality, dignity and respect….It’s not about “let them do it,” it’s about having your voice in the mix.
This is the only way we can keep everyone voting. preserve women’s rights, keep affordable Healthcare, create good income jobs, elect people to Congress and our State Legislatures that will truly represent those that vote them in, keep money out of politics, keep equal pay for working women, keep investing in Education and opportunities for our children, keep protecting Medicare and Social Security, make Immigration reform work and keep seeking ways for a clean environment for generations to come.
This is our Democracy in Action and we will work tirelessly to reach this reality. Do what you can day to day to help. Thank you.
