Obituary: Francis R. Petta
Francis R. Petta, 92, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Taylor Park Nursing Home under the care of Hospice and with his granddaughter by his side. He was born Dec. 12, 1920, to Alex and Mary (Belanger) Petta in Ashland. Francis served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Rhinelander Paper Company for many years, retiring in 1984. Francis enjoyed bowling, hunting, golfing and ice fishing. He is survived by his son, Francis E. (Cynthia) of New Berlin; his grandchildren, Andrea (Kurt) Metz and Steve Petta, both of Rhinelander; two great granddaughters, Halle and Lilli Petta; and a great great granddaughter, Audrina. he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille and his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 19, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord – St. Joseph’s Site with Father Tom Thakadipuram officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
