Obituary: Mitchell J. Mierzwa

Mitchell J. Mierzwa, 65, of Rhinelander, formerly of Chicago, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at St. Joseph hospital in Marshfield with his family by his side. He was born Aprill 22, 1948, to Joseph and Maria (Golobinski) Mierzwa in Belgium. Mitchell married the former Jolanta Hanula on May 8, 1971 in Chicago. He worked for Deluxe Check Printers for 38 years; retiring in 2007. They moved from Chicago to Rhinelander in 2007. Mitchell enjoyed playing cards, fishing, woodworking, telling jokes and nature. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mitchell was an avid Bears and Cubs fan. He is survived by his wife, Jolanta; his children, Jeffery (Melinda) and Jennifer (Thomas) Barnett, both of Chicago; four grandchildren; a brother, Stanley; and a sister, Harriet Mierzwa. He was preceeded in death by his parents and a brother, Jan. A Mass of Christian Buriel will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Nativity of Our Lord-St. Mary;s site with the Rev. Tom Thakadipuram officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 19, 2013, at Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
