Downtown flower baskets to be installed Saturday
Updated Fri., 6/1 – Downtown Rhinelander, Inc. has received lead gifts in support for the hanging flower baskets and is asking others for consideration to “Adopt a Basket” this summer.
The Rhinelander Woman’s Club recently donated $1,000 to support the annual summer beautification project. President Mary Fortier recently presented the donation to Downtown Rhinelander, Inc. In addition to the financial support of the Rhinelander Woman’s Club, Rhinelander GM & Toyota Auto Center is supporting the program with the use of a truck for the daily watering. Others involved in the project include: Forth Floral, Master Gardeners of the North and the City of Rhinelander.
The flower baskets will be installed on the historic light posts on Saturday, June 2 now that the threat of frost is behind us. This year there are a total of 115 baskets that will line Stevens Street, Brown Street and Davenport Street. This is the sixth year of the program. The funding supports the plant material, soil, daily watering, fuel, insurance and fertilizing.
The public is invited to support the “Adopt a Basket” program with a contribution of $100 or any amount would be greatly appreciated. Sponsor forms are available at Downtown Rhinelander, Inc. office, Forth Floral and Inside Story. All contributors will receive an invitation to a summer social event held to celebrate the sponsors and honored guests. Contributors will be recognized on a window display poster and with an individual sign, “I adopted a basket”.
