“What happens if an elected official moves out of their district during their term of office? Can they still serve their term?”
– Wendy, Rhinelander
The Star Journal asked Mary Bartelt, Oneida County’s county clerk. Bartelt responded:
“No. If a person moves out of their district during their term of office, then they must step down from that office.
“The position is then posted, and people from that district are interviewed and chosen by the chairperson of the board to fulfil the rest of that term.”
