Updated Tuesday, 5/15 – The American Red Cross responded to two northern Wisconsin house fires in the week, and provided assistance to both households.

In Medford in Taylor County, a household of four was displaced by a fire late Thursday evening, May 10. The American Red Cross provided assistance for clothing, food and lodging.

In Antigo in Langlade County, a household of two was displaced by a fire early Friday morning, May 11. The individuals declined lodging assistance and instead chose to stay with local family members. The American Red Cross provided assistance for clothing and food.

The American Red Cross will continue with follow-up to determine any additional disaster caused needs for the individuals affected by these two household fires.

You can help people affected by disasters like floods, fires, tornadoes and hurricanes, as well as countless crises at home and around the world, by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for and provide shelter, food, emotional support and
other assistance in response to disasters. Visit redcross.org, or call (800) RED-CROSS. Contributions may also be sent to your local American Red Cross office or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to individuals affected by disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation’s blood supply; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization – not a government agency – and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission. For more information, visit redcross.org, or join the Red Cross blog at http://blog.redcross.org.

For information about supporting the American Red Cross in your community as a volunteer, call the Red Cross at (877) 618-6628 ext, 5822, email [email protected] or visit redcross.org.
