John F. “Jack” Bergman, 75, of Rhinelander, died Jan. 15, 2012. He was born in Wausau to Walter and Edith Bergman. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his daughters, Stephanie (Steve) Adams of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Sally Anne (Tom) MacGillis of Wauwatosa; his son, Andy (Judy Zickuhr) of Mequon; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and his sister, Patricia (Tom) Stengl of Bismarck, N.D. Jack served in the peace time U.S. Army, and then returned to Rhinelander and worked at the Rhinelander Paper Company. He retired in 1988 as order and production manager. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home.

John J. Donis, 87, of Rhinelander, died Jan. 12, 2012, at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was born May 6, 1924 in Fond du Lac to Fredrick and Emma (Braum) Donis. He is survived his wife, Helen; his sons, Jeffrey (Anita) and James (Tammy); and one granddaughter, all of Rhinelander. John served in World War II in the European Theatre, and was awarded several decorations for distinguishing acts in combat. He then worked for Daniels Packaging. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Marie Poeske, 91, of Minocqua, died Jan. 16, 2012, at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. She was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Marathon City, to Mike and Nora Gassner. She is survived by her son-in-law, Dave Nimz of Duluth; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Norm in 2003; her daughter, Rita Nimz in 2011; and three brothers, Mike, Walter and Arnold. Marie assisted in the operation of Norm’s Diamond Variety in Tomahawk and sold antiques. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home.

Lorraine G. Shaffer, 81, of Rhinelander, died Jan. 12, 2012. She was born Dec. 3, 1930, in Cass Lake, Minn., to Aloyze and Mary Filla. She is survived by her husband, Paul; her daughter, Bonnie Shaffer of Rhinelander; and her sister, Marge Hengle of Arizona. Lorraine was employed in office administration with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and in accounting with several Minnesota banks. Lorraine and her husband, Paul, made Rhinelander their home since 1992. A memorial celebration with family will take place.
