Story of the Nutcracker comes to life

Local dancers perform holiday favorites

RHINELANDER – The Northwoods School of Dance held its annual winter recital, with dancers performing the Nutcracker ballet and other holiday favorites.

Two performances were held Dec. 9 at the John and Dori Brown PAC in the Rhinelander High School. The Nutcracker tells the story of a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King. All dances were choreographed by Northwoods School of Dance instructors.

“Waltz of the Flowers” is performed as part of the Nutcracker. Senior Dancers Brianna Birginal, Julia Wacker, Katelyn Shrock and Maddie McLaughlin lead the dance.
Senior Maddie McLaughlin, Brianna Birginal, Katelyn Shrock and Julia Wacker take their final Nutcracker bows at the end of the 5 p.m. show.
The full cast participates in the final Nutcracker number, performed by the Northwoods School of Dance.
Advanced tap dancers performed to “Wonderful Christmas Time.”
Beginning dancers performed, “When Christmas comes to town” during the Northwoods School of Dance annual holiday show Dec. 9.
Dancers were joined by dancing parents in a Holiday Remix. The Northwoods School of Dance held their annual show Dec. 9 at the Rhinelander High School auditorium.
