RHINELANDER – Three newcomers to city government took their seats at Rhinelander City Hall Tuesday evening. Mayor Kristopher Hanus defeated Steve Sauer in the April 5 election after Chris Frederickson chose not to run for a second term.

Steven Jopek, District 8 and LeAnn Felten, District 2, ran as registered write-in candidates. There were no other candidates on the ballot for those districts. Incumbents Tom Kelly, District 4, and David Holt, District 6, ran unopposed and won re-election.

The council voted Eileen Daniel in as council president.
