Veterans News: Health care event Nov. 4

By Tammy Javenkoski
Oneida County VSO
On Thursday, Nov. 4, two information sessions regarding VA health care and Medicare plans will be held. I will be there along with Retired SSG Jerry Mueller and Rhonda Grabko from United Healthcare.
I will talk about the VA health care system, eligibility and using care in the community if you’re in the VA health care system.
Jerry and Rhonda will talk about 2022 updates to Medicare as well as different plans United Healthcare offers. You know those TV advertisements that tell you can get dental, vision, over-the-counter items, free gym memberships, etc. for free? I never believed them until I met
Jerry and he educated me about different plans where you can get added benefits for no cost if you’re a Wisconsin veteran or the spouse of a veteran and on Medicare.
These will be helpful sessions if you want to learn more about your Medicare options and speak with Jerry and Rhonda about what plan best meets your needs. You will also learn the difference between advantage and supplement plans and find out if you’re missing out on important benefits.
We will be holding two sessions; one at 9:30 a.m. and the other one at 3:30 p.m. (both sessions provide the same information). They will be at the Rhinelander Veterans Center, 1002 Coon Street. That building is between Forest Home Cemetery and UPS.
