Visitation set for Rhinelander teen who died from unexplained illness
Star Journal Staff
A visitation will take place Sunday, Nov. 1, at Hildebrand Funeral Home for Gavin Schinke, the Rhinelander High School senior who died Monday at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison.
In August Gavin’s mother, Angie Fanning, took him to the doctor after noticing his eyes and skin were yellow. That was only the beginning of journey for the family, as his condition worsened and tests could not determine the cause of his illness. He was transferred to the Madison hospital Aug. 21, where more tests, surgeries and screenings produced no answers.
Recently members of the Northwoods Car Club restored his car and drove it to the hospital over the weekend to surprise Gavin. He passed away two days later, surrounded by family.
Visitation will take place from 12:30-4 p.m. at Hildebrand Funeral Home in Rhinelander. Memorial contributions in honor Gavin may be given to the American Family Children’s Hospital, 1675 Highland Ave., Madison, WI 53792.
