Rhinelander public works director placed on administrative leave

Monday, Tim Kingman, public works director for the city of Rhinelander, was placed on paid administrative leave. There has been no communication from the city as to the reason for this action, or how it might affect current and upcoming public works projects.

In an email to Star Journal Tuesday morning, City Administrator Daniel Guild stated, “Director Kingman has not been suspended. He is on full-pay administrative leave. The action is non-disciplinary. No decisions regarding his status of employment with the City have been made by the Mayor or me to my knowledge or by any City Council members.  No such decision would be made without prior consideration of the Council.”

In that same email, which was received at approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Guild also stated, “A press release is being drafted. Once approved, we will distribute the document.” The promised press release, however, has yet to be delivered, and the City has not been forthcoming with any additional information regarding this matter. As soon as more information is received, Star Journal will update this story.
