Missing Marathon County man may be in the Northwoods

A Rothschild man reported missing last weekend is believed to be in Forest County. According to a Wisconsin Crime Network Silver Alert, Richard J. Czarnecki, 84, was last seen in his vehicle in Wausau 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 when he stated he wanted to go to Crivitz, in Marinette County, but asked for directions to Rothschild. He was reportedly sighted in Birnamwood an hour later and was last seen driving north on Hwy. 45.
Czarnecki’s cell phone pinged off a tower in Crandon Oct. 7, but he has not yet been located. He is believed to have dementia.
Czarnecki is a while male, 5’7″ and 180 pounds, gray hair and blue eyes; he was last seen wearing a maroon coat with “Bucyrus Erie” printed on it, black pants and black shoes. He may be driving a 2008 Buick Lucerne, with the plates 794-TJE. The car has minor damage to the driver’s side front wheel well and a mud flap is missing.
